JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Volunteer PR Intern
Hours: 2.5 days – 4 days week, some evenings required
Reports to: Senior PR staff

Overview:
We are a boutique public relations agency committed to providing the highest service levels and personal approach to our clients, and we are looking for a talented intern to join our team. The volunteer intern position will support senior staff in any given request related to the operation of the business, public relations and office tasks. Duties to include answering phones, managing office supplies, office organization, formatting and filing press clippings, managing data base lists, preparing mail outs, social media and attending some evening events.

Skills & Qualifications:
• Demonstrate the ability to undertake basic public relations assignments and to act professionally at all times
• Strong communications skills (written and verbal)
• Understanding of social media
• Self motivated, highly organized and detail orientated
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Working knowledge of computers, word processing and database management is essential – Microsoft Word and Excel Spreadsheets, Mac OX and Photoshop advantageous
• Keen interest in travel, food, wine and fashion
• Eagerness to learn about public relations

Main Responsibilities:
• Office administration duties, answer phones and take messages, screen calls
• Pick up daily and weekly papers, scan regular food, wine, fashion and event columns to track client coverage
• Track and file all relevant media clips in designated client binders and folders stored on the server
• Update and manage media databases as required
• Manage office supplies and be responsible for purchasing / re-ordering stationery
• Become fully conversant with Cision media database (online tutorials available)
• Contribute to social media campaigns
• To assist with coordinating and planning events and press trips as directed by senior staff
• To support senior staff in any given request related to the operation of the business (eg. purchase office supplies, prepare mail outs, online research, office organization etc.)
• Work well with and demonstrate respect for colleagues at all levels and consistently contribute to a positive work environment
• Consistently meet project deadlines as set by team lead
• Some evening and weekend attendance required
