Tinhorn Creek’s Charitable Giving Program Puts Kids First

Tinhorn Creek is excited to announce that the winery has donated $19,100 this year to the Boys and Girls Club of Canada, amounting to over $100,000 in contributions since they began their annual support of this charity in 2005.

One of Tinhorn Creek’s major goals is to be a good corporate citizen and in 2005, the time came to take this from an idea to a structured program. Tinhorn named the Boys and Girls Club of Canada as charity of choice for their charitable giving program, to which they donate 2.5% of the winery’s annual net income before taxes. The Tinhorn Creek team began with what the criteria should be for the program, and then identified organizations that best met the things that are most important to the winery.

Each year, through consultation with the individual Boys and Girls Club chapters, the Tinhorn Creek team selects projects that support children across the spectrum of age ranges. The chapters can rely on this funding and plan on it being there for them to fund the many valuable services they provide to our young people. This year’s $19,100 donation will support five different Boys and Girls Club programs:

-Cool Moves, an after school program in Edmonton, provides education on nutrition and physical activity to at-risk children
-The Oliver Youth Centre, a safe and welcoming space for youth
-The Academic Enhancement Program in the Lower Mainland, which provides extra individual support to struggling children aged 6-12
-Rite of Me, a Victoria-based outdoor experience program to boost the confidence and life skills of girls aged 9-14
-The Ready, Set, Go! Pre-School & Family Program in Calgary, which offers low-cost education programs for 3-5-year-olds as well as parents’ groups
