Drawing on the distinct regional variations of cuisines from both Italy (cicchetti is the term for Venetian tapas) and the Spanish coast, Catalano’s dishes are bursting with local produce, flavour and colour. The weekend brunch features seasonal selections with names as inventive as the dishes. Start the day with a ‘Weekend Crossword’ ($14) consisting of free-range eggs, creamed leeks, crispy prosciutto, truffled hollandaise and potato rosti or opt for a ‘Continental Divide’ dish such as the ‘French Connection’ (warm croissant, fresh fruit and brie) or the ‘Mambo Italiano’ (melon, prosciutto and baguette with melted provolone); both cost $10 and include coffee and juice.
