Celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday at Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler
Whistler, BC (March 15, 2017) – Oh Canada! Nita Lake Lodge celebrates the nation’s 150th birthday this summer with special Canadian winemaker dinners, themed menus and spa treatments. Situated on Nita Lake, amongst some of BC’s most beautiful scenery, the Lodge offers the perfect surrounding to wish Canada a happy birthday with the best of national ingredients on the table or with an energizing treatment at the renowned spa.
Throughout Summer, Aura Restaurant will feature a ‘Best of Canada’ menu, where Chef Dean Hossack will take guests on a culinary journey across the country from coast to coast. Dishes are all inspired by Canada and can be enjoyed on Aura’s newly expanded lakeside patio – from Nova Scotian lobster salad with radicchio, fiddleheads, tarragon emulsion and yam chips, to Quebec cheese mousse with Granny Smith apple sorbet, toasted hay Anglais, rhubarb jam and maple walnut tulle. This four-course menu costs $59 pp, with an optional Canadian wine pairing of $39 pp, and is available from May 12 until October 21, 2017.
Aura Restaurant will also be hosting a celebration of Canadian wine and beer making at the summer-long Canada 150 Winemaker & Brewmaster dinner series. Chef Dean will be creating unique dishes that complement each winery or brewery. Guests can chose from: May 9 (Painted Rock Estate Winery, Penticton), June 13 (Fort Berens Estate Winery, Lillooet) June 27 (Whistler Brewing Company), July 4 (Le Vieux Pin Winery, Oliver), July 25 (Deep Cove Brewery, North Vancouver), August 8 (Averill Creek Vineyard, Vancouver Island), August 22 (Red Truck Brewery, Vancouver) and September 12 (LaStella Winery, Osoyoos). Tickets for the events range from $79pp for winemaker dinners and $59pp for brewmaster events, excluding taxes and tips.
Following their complete redesign, Cure Lounge will be reopening this May where guests can celebrate with a specially-curated Canadian whisky flight to taste the finest whisky from Nova Scotian tipples to Vancouver Island’s finest distilleries ($22 for four 0.5 oz pours). Other libations include Canadian themed craft cocktails at Cure Lounge, featuring herbs from Nita’s rooftop, house made syrups, maple syrup and Canadian liquor from Pemberton Hemp Vodka to Crown Royal whisky. Feature cocktails are $12 and are available from May 12 until October 21, 2017.
Whistler’s surroundings have also inspired The Spa at Nita Lake Lodge to create Canadian themed treatments for the 150th celebration. Unique treatments include a house-made Maple Sugar Body Scrub ($145), Alpine Arnica Relaxation Massage ($125), Pacific Pine Deep Tissue Massage ($135) and Mountain Mint Revitalizing Pedicure ($75). All were created with Canada in mind and make the most of locally sourced raw ingredients from mountain mint to alpine arnica. Treatments are available May 1 until October 31 and include the use of Nita’s stunning rooftop hot tubs, spa lounge and steam room.
