Drink of the Week – “La Mostaccioli” Cocktail

Just last Friday (June 17th), Vancouver welcomed the 2011 Dish ‘n’ Dazzle cocktail competition showcasing the city’s dynamic hospitality industry. This year’s Dish ‘n’ Dazzle, hosted by the BC Hospitality Foundation, was won by one of Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s new bartenders Derek Vanderheide, with his ‘La Mostaccioli’ cocktail inspired by the ingredients of the traditional Italian cookie of the same name. The cocktail was prepared by Vanderheide and his team, on location for over 500 guests and judges of the event and was served with a delectable Mostaccioli cookie accompaniment pre-baked by Vanderheide himself and Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s pastry chef, Mark Burton.

Vanderheide replicated the flavour profile in his drink whose ingredients included Wild Turkey bourbon whiskey, Tuaca Italian liqueur, whiskey barrel-aged bitters, Chilean late harvest wine, brandy and home-made vermouth along with more then a dozen different spices.
