Icewine Harvest at Tinhorn Creek Vineyards
Tinhorn Creek Vineyards had a successful 2011 icewine harvest. On the morning of Thursday January 12th, staff of the award-winning winery—which sits on a hillside overlooking the South Okanagan Valley’s famed Golden Mile Bench—picked 3.6 tonnes of Kerner grapes. Since 1994, Tinhorn Creek Vineyards has produced icewine in small batches of approximately four tonnes of grapes. The Oldfield Series Kerner Icewine has a medium to full body, with a long finish and surprisingly low alcohol of, on average, just 10%. The bright acidity allows flavours of honey, pear and dried apricot with notes of orange blossom and citrus to shine through.
The highly anticipated 2011 Oldfield Series Kerner Icewine will be released on July 1st, 2012. This unique product will be available at the winery and in select wine shops and restaurants www.tinhorn.com.
