Tiffany and Co. Fleur de Mer Clip Designed by Jean Schlumberger
Jean Schlumberger is one of the world’s most celebrated jewellery designers, and one of the greatest designers in Tiffany & Co.’s illustrious history. His creations were favoured by the world’s most famous and fashionable people, including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Diana Vreeland, the legendary editor of Vogue magazine, and Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor.
In 1965 Miss Taylor’s husband, Richard Burton, purchased the signature Jean Schlumberger Fleur de Mer clip for his wife. Worn as an elegant hair ornament or as a pin clipped to her elegant ensembles, Miss Taylor was inventive in how she wore her prized Schlumberger clip over the years.
In 2011, Tiffany & Co. acquired the Fleur de Mer clip from the estate of Elizabeth Taylor, which is now part of the Tiffany Archives, and remains a symbol of true legend and the fabulous life that she led. In celebration of Tiffany’s 175th anniversary, the Fleur de Mer clip will be on view at select Tiffany locations around the world.
