Drink of the Week – ‘Aperol Spritz’ from London’s cherished Carluccio’s

On a recent trip to the UK, we had the pleasure of visiting Carluccio’s, an absolute Italian café favorite situated in Market Place, just steps from the Oxford Circus in the heart of “NoHo”. Antonio Carluccio has successfully grown the café over the last decade and today is famously known as one of the â€œTwo Greedy Italians” alongside Gennaro Contaldo, a famous Italian chef.

This charming café has more than 68 locations throughout Europe however you would never know it as each has an original and authentic feel, personalized design and menu, and that vibrant and seductive Italian personality. Carluccio’s in Market Place features a large interior with a retail area of fine Italian foods, dining area, and patio outside, all complimented by sky-high ceilings and natural light.

One of the signature cocktails and our Drink of the Week is the Aperol Spritz, described as a Venetian aperitif topped with prosecco and soda. This light and refreshing cocktail may be most enjoyed patio side, magazine in hand, and an afternoon free for people watching in London. Better yet, as the 2012 Olympic Games approach, July 27-August 12, we recommend visiting this unforgettable café with friends and family and add a little bit of Italy to your trip.
