Building an Artistic Community – The Rosewood Hotel Georgia as a Creative Hub

On Thursday October 4th, the Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s elegant Spanish Ballroom will be transformed into a stage for an engaging evening of art discussions.

Building an Artistic Community will welcome internationally renowned artist Patrick Hughes and three esteemed members of the Vancouver art community, including: Bruce Grenville, Senior Curator at the Vancouver Art Gallery and currently leading research for The Grand Hotel exhibit for 2013; Landon Mackenzie, an acclaimed Vancouver-based artist known for her abstracted study of cartography and large-format paintings who is also a lecturer at Emily Carr University of Art and Design; and Christos Dikeakos, a photographer who has played an important role in the rise of conceptual and post-conceptual photography since the late 1960s. Each artist and curator will bring their knowledge of different communities to the table.

Building an Artistic Community starts at 5:30pm on October 4th with a cocktail reception, followed by a lively panel discussion and Q&A. Tickets cost $45 can be purchased online.
