Happy Family Day!

Happy Family Day long weekend! Whether you’re looking for something to do as a family, or looking for a way to keep everyone busy so you can get some peace and quiet – we’ve picked the top five family-friendly events happening in and around town:

Vancouver Art Gallery
Join in the official free Family Day celebrations outside Vancouver Art Gallery, between 10am-7pm, on Monday 11th.  There will be street performances, stilt-walkers, music from Said the Whale and educational activities from Science World, Britannia Mining Museum, and the Royal BC Museum. Plus there’s a hockey shoot-out and free skating at Robson Square!

Vancouver Aquarium
Introduce your family to the Vancouver Aquarium’s families of penguins and frogs. If Family Day ends up being a wet one, the indoor exhibits are the perfect place to while away the hours at the recently-launched Secret World of Sharks and Rays, or the 4D theatre showing of The Great Salmon Run. Crafty kids can have a go at making tie-dyed stingrays or decorating a coral reef. Opening hours will be extended to 9.30am-6pm throughout the long weekend.

Grouse Mountain
Tuck into a pancake breakfast, then take the Skyride up Grouse Mountain and enjoy 50% off lift tickets and Alpine Experience passes for BC residents on Monday 11th February. At the peak there will be a snow painting station, scavenger hunts, a puck shoot out, Terrain Park Jams and a special family après dinner at Altitudes Bistro.

Whistler
Head to Whistler and enjoy the long weekend with a relaxing stay at Nita Lake Lodge and then hit the slopes with the whole family. Whistler Blackcomb is also offering 50% off lift tickets for BC residents on Monday 11th February, so grab your skis and get going!

BC Sports Hall of Fame
Sports fans can head to Gate A of BC Place to check out the BC Sports Hall of Fame and enjoy half-priced admission to the participation zone where kids can try soccer, hockey, climbing and running. Colouring activities, a scavenger hunt, photo opportunities with Shaun White’s 2010 Olympic snowboard and free family membership draws will also be at BC Place.
