Sunshine is on the way for BC Day long weekend and there are lots of local events to help you celebrate in your own backyard. Here’s our hotlist of the best happenings this long weekend…

Make a last-minute long weekend escape up to Oliver and soak up the sunshine on a winery tour and tasting at Tinhorn Creek Vineyards. Cool off afterwards on the patio at the winery’s award-winning Miradoro Restaurant, with stunning views of the South Okanagan Valley.

Gather friends and head down to English Bay for the final 2013 Honda Celebration of Light this Saturday. Did you know there is a free iPhone app you can download to tune into the music during the show.

It’s time to bring out those crazy costumes you never thought you’d wear again. Join an estimated half-million people hitting the streets of downtown Vancouver this Sunday for the annual Vancouver Pride Parade. Head to Bel Café to pick up rainbow coloured macarons for a sweet treat to snack on during the parade.

No such thing as a free brunch? There is this weekend – head to Hawksworth Restaurant this Saturday or Sunday, mention #BrunchClub and your guest’s brunch dish will be free. Talk about a great start to the long weekend!

Celebrate BC Day with a glass of local BC wine – LaStella and Le Vieux Pin have just launched exclusive cellar tours that include a behind-the-vines experience of the two Okanagan wineries. Find out more about their sustainable approach to wine-making on a personal tour of the lesser-seen corners of the vineyards.
