Make a difference this holiday season with Cause We Care

The holiday season is a time to celebrate with loved ones and to also give back to those less fortunate, especially people in need right here in our local community. This Christmas, Vancouver-based charity Cause We Care Foundation launches its 8th Annual Hamper Drive with a goal to deliver over 600 hampers to frontline organizations in the Lower Mainland, while also raising funds for the YWCA Cause We Care House, a subsidized housing project in the Downtown Eastside.

“British Columbia has the second highest child poverty rate in Canada and female single-parent families are the hardest hit,” says Andrea Thomas Hill, founder of Cause We Care. “Year round our goal is to support single mothers and their children in need through a range of initiatives, including after-school care programs and emergency financial support, but at Christmas time especially we want to relieve some of the pressures and help single mothers provide for their families.”

Cause We Care offers a number of ways that people can support the charity and help to make a difference this holiday season:

Blue Ruby introduces brand new handcrafted holiday bracelets with 100% of the proceeds supporting programs and initiatives run by Cause We Care. Prices range from $20 to $145. These beautiful bracelets make lovely holiday gifts and add a little sparkle to the season. They are available in all Blue Ruby stores from December 1st www.blueruby.com

Pottery Barn‘s Give a Little Hope campaign captures the spirit of the season with proceeds from special edition German Glitter Houses going to Cause We Care www.potterybarn.com

To celebrate the holidays Aritzia has launched the #FullofHeart campaign across its social media channels (follow @Aritzia and @CauseWeCare) benefiting Cause We Care: specifically the building of a subsidized housing facility in the Vancouver neighbourhood where its head office is located. Participants post a photo of someone they are #FullofHeart for on Instagram and Aritzia will donate a brick for each post or social media mention to Cause We Care on their behalf. A visual representation of the donation progress will be showcased on www.Aritzia.com

For every online $60 donation at www.causewecare.com, a hamper worth well over $120 of gifts and essential food items will be delivered to a disadvantaged local single mother-led family. Volunteers can assist with stuffing and delivering hampers on December 9th at the 8th Annual Christmas Hamper Drive. Special thanks goes to Save On Foods – Cambie Street location, Army & Navy, Purdy’s Chocolates and Bosa Foods. Email info@causewecare.org to sign up and receive more detailed information about the drive.
