Magnolia Hotel & Spa recognized with a Condé Nast Traveler’s 2022 Readers’ Choice Award

One of three British Columbia hotels to be featured

Victoria’s Magnolia Hotel & Spa is thrilled to be included in the Condé Nast Traveler 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards as #14 Best Hotel in Canada, with a score of 91.21. The boutique, locally-owned property was one of just three British Columbia hotels to be included and the only located one on Vancouver Island to feature in both the Best Hotels and Best Resorts in Canada lists.

“We are immensely proud of the dedication and resilience our team has shown over the past few years and to receive this recognition, as well as being named to Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards earlier in the year is a true testament to them,” says Bill Lewis, General Manager of the Magnolia Hotel & Spa. “We pride ourselves on connecting with guests and personalizing their stay down to the smallest detail. As we enter our 25th year in 2023, we are honoured that our guests chose to vote for us and appreciate the service that we offer.”

The Magnolia Hotel & Spa placed among some impressive company, including Auberge Saint-Antoine, Quebec City (#1 / 98.68),  The Hazelton Hotel, Toronto (#3 / 97.36), Fogo Island Inn, Newfoundland (#7 / 94.29), Hôtel Le Germain, Montréal (#13 / 91.22) and Vancouver’s Rosewood Hotel Georgia (#15 / 91.19).

According to Condé Nast Traveler editors: “It’s the little things that set apart this swanky spot abutting Victoria’s Inner Harbour and downtown. Like those trademark metallic tubes of L’Occitane products for weary business travelers (Lavender Sleep Well Kit? Yes, please), fluffy signature robes for which we’d happily jet cross-continent, and, of course, the bittersweet pillow treats in the minibar from local Rogers’ Chocolates that quickly diffuse any travel grumpiness. At just 64 rooms, this louche little boîte skews a tad small, but that’s what we like about it—no crowds, no confused or overwhelmed staff, and certainly no angling for speedy service. Rooms are spacious smoke- and pearl-hued confections as beloved for their chic, streamlined design as they are for their beds—it’s gonna take more than a free hotel breakfast to relinquish us from this plush, cloud-like heaven—though we suggest you splurge for a signature corner room, with high ceilings and a gas fireplace, and front-row views of the impressive, stone-clad Parliament building (especially charming when it’s lit up at night).”

The city of Victoria received notable recognition as #2 Best Small City and Vancouver Island ranked #4 Best Island, Rest of North America

More than 240,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe to provide a full snapshot of the top places they enjoyed this year and can’t wait to return to next.
