Cause We Care Launches Annual Holiday Drive, The Gift of Hope
Vancouver, B.C. (November 14th, 2024): Cause We Care Foundation, a Vancouver-based grassroots organization, is announcing the launch of its 18th annual Holiday Campaign. The campaign aims to raise funds to support low-income single mother-led families across the Lower Mainland by sending Care Packages filled with hope, essentials, and treats to those in need.
Founded in 2007 by Andrea Thomas Hill, Cause We Care Foundation started with a humble mission to alleviate some of the pressures low-income single moms face during the holiday season. What began with just 50 Care Packages being assembled at home, has now become the largest drive of its kind in Vancouver and has delivered over 11,000 Care Packages to date.
“We all want to create magical holiday memories for our children,” says Thomas Hill, Founder of Cause We Care, “but for those who are faced with the challenging demands of solo parenting, including financial hardships that go hand-in-hand, that can often be really hard. We know these Care Packages are valued not only for their thoughtful contents but for the message they send; recipients feel seen and supported, they give the gift hope.”
Each Care Package costs $175 but is valued at over $250 due to collaborations with local companies to secure product donations or wholesale cost items. To meet the goal of delivering 1200 Care Packages this holiday season, Cause We Care is asking for individual and corporate donations to help raise the $210,000 needed. Each online donation of $175 provides a Holiday Care Package; a Herschel backpack filled with essentials and treats, such as a $100 Save-On-Foods grocery gift card, warm accessories from Aritzia, eyewear from KITS Eyecare, feminine products from Joni and a self-care treat from Midnight Paloma. Between November 26th and December 3rd Corporate Champion Capital Direct, will generously match all donations up to $35,000, effectively doubling the impact of every dollar donated.
On December 4th a dedicated group of volunteers will gather at the Vancouver Convention Centre to help assemble and deliver over a thousand care packages. These packages will be distributed to recipients through Cause We Care’s network of trusted frontline organizations, including the YWCA Cause We Care House, inner-city schools, community centers and transition houses.
Individuals can make donations in honour of loved ones, with festive e-cards delivered to recipients and ‘corporate champions’ can sponsor an entire frontline beneficiary organization, starting from $3500, a great way for companies to engage employees or contribute in lieu of holiday corporate gifts.
