Dec. 20, 2024 – The holiday season has arrived with snow in the forecast, and ski resorts across the Rocky Mountains are expanding offerings and opening more terrain. Skiers and riders on the Epic Pass will have access to more than 10,000 acres of skiing and riding for the season across Colorado and Utah by the holidays! With signature terrain like Vail’s China Bowl & Blue Sky Basin, Breck’s Peak 6 & Peak 10, and Keystone’s Bergman Bowl opening this week, here’s what skiers and riders have to look forward to at their favourite resorts:

  • Vail Mountain: Vail Mountain is kicking off the holiday season in spectacular fashion with more than 3,400 acres of terrain already open for skiing and riding. This week, the resort opened China Bowl and Blue Sky Basin, joining terrain offerings in Sun Up Bowl and Sun Down Bowl. The resort is prepared for more snow and will work hard to open more of the 5,317 acres of terrain as Mother Nature allows.
  • Breckenridge Ski Resort: All Five Peaks are officially open for the season starting this weekend at Breck with the addition of Peak 6 today and Peak 10 set to open by Saturday. Skiers and riders will have access to roughly 2,000 acres of terrain for the holidays with more expected soon. In addition, all ski-to-town trails are now open connecting the mountain to Breck’s Main Street, making it easy to head straight from the slopes to après.
  • Keystone Resort: Keystone Resort opens its newest chairlift, Bergman Express, this Friday, Dec. 20 for the 2024-25 ski and ride season! Bergman Express debuted last winter as one of the largest lift-serviced terrain expansions in the ski industry and welcomed skiers and riders of nearly all ability levels to Keystone’s previously elusive high alpine terrain. All of Bergman Bowl will open this weekend, offering intermediate powder fields, advanced tree skiing, and the Ten Mile trail – the highest green trail in the United States. Keystone is also on schedule to expand its signature A-51 Terrain Park offerings this weekend, with openings on Easy Street, the Alley and Park Lane.
  • Beaver Creek Resort: Skiers and riders at Beaver Creek can now enjoy terrain from all three villages: Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead. With nearly 100 trails, 18 lifts, and more than 1,000 acres of terrain already open, it’s bound to be a memorable holiday season. Fan-favorite McCoy Park is also slated to open before the holiday begins, offering terrain for families to explore more, together.
  • Crested Butte Mountain Resort: Crested Butte is working hard to open more than 300 acres of additional terrain for skiers and riders ahead of the holidays. With the East River Lift opening today and the Gold Link and Prospect Lifts scheduled to open on Monday, the resort will soon have 13 of its 15 lifts spinning for the season. Skiers and riders of all levels can look forward to a variety of beginner, intermediate, and advanced terrain across the mountain.
  • Park City Mountain: Park City Mountain is poised for a festive holiday season with new terrain and lifts opening daily. This week amidst fresh snowfall, Ninety-Nine 90 opened giving skiers and riders access to signature expert terrain. Guests can also ski or ride across the entire mountain with the opening of the Quicksilver Gondola on Dec. 19, connecting Park City Mountain Village and Canyons Village. Don’t miss Park City Mountain’s NEW Orange Bubble Bites – complimentary orange, rosemary, honey-glazed donut bites available daily at Canyons Village at 3:00 pm.

With up to two feet of snow predicted across the Rocky Mountains over the next two weeks, this holiday season is shaping up to be an extra special one for skiers and riders. Operations teams will continue to open terrain at every opportunity, expanding terrain offerings through the holiday season and into the new year. Stay tuned to resort social media channels for the latest terrain alerts and updates.
