Cause We Care Foundation Launches 2025 Visionary Campaign

Empowering Single Mothers to Build Brighter Futures

Vancouver, BC (February 20, 2025): – Cause We Care Foundation, a leading non-profit dedicated to supporting single mothers and their children, has announced the launch of its 2025 Visionary Campaign—an ambitious initiative led by Founder and Chair Andrea Thomas Hill to raise and distribute $1 million toward programs that promote economic security and well-being for single mother-led families in the Lower Mainland.

A Legacy of Impact

Since its founding in 2007, Cause We Care has grown from a small Holiday Drive supporting 50 families into a dynamic organization driving systemic change. The foundation’s key areas of support include housing, childcare, education, employment, counselling, essential supplies, and food security.

Among its notable initiatives:

  • Cause We Care House – A safe and supportive housing development in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
  • Community Grants Program – Funding frontline organizations that support single mothers.
  • Single Mother Support Fund (launched in 2019) – Providing wraparound support for education and job training.

Demand for the Single Mother Support Fund has surged, rising from 19 applicants in its first year to over 100 in 2024— and funding applications for its Community Grants Program have more than doubled in the same time period, a testament to the urgent need for financial assistance.

Addressing a Growing Crisis

The 2025 Visionary Campaign comes at a pivotal time, as single-mother-led families in British Columbia face mounting financial pressures:

  • 40% of children in single-parent households live in poverty, with single mothers leading the majority of these families (2024 Child Poverty Report Card).
  • Vancouver now has the highest cost of living in North America, making housing, childcare, and essentials unaffordable for many (Maclean’s).
  • Rising inflation and food prices are deepening financial hardship for single-income families.

A Call to Action

“We’re launching the Visionary Campaign to provide single mothers with the resources and opportunities they need to build stable, independent lives,” says Andrea Thomas Hill, Founder and Board Chair. “With the need greater than ever, we’re calling on individuals and corporations to step up—every donation, no matter the size, directly impacts a mother’s future.”

The 2025 Visionary Campaign represents a 25% increase in funding distribution over the previous year, reflecting both the increased demand and the foundation’s commitment to making a lasting difference.

Join the Movement

Cause We Care is more than a fundraising organization—it’s a champion for single mothers, ensuring that every dollar raised is used efficiently. Operating with a lean team of two staff members, alongside a dedicated board and volunteers, the foundation maximizes its impact by working closely with frontline organizations.
