Cause We Care Foundation Mother’s Day Luncheon raises over $138,000 to launch Single Mothers Support Fund
The 5th annual luncheon raised funds to support single mothers in back to school or job training programs; a vital step towards breaking the cycle of poverty.
Cause We Care Foundation’s Mother’s Day Luncheon saw many of the city’s most philanthropic and influential join together to successfully raise over $138,000 for the Single Mothers Support Fund, designed to remove gaps and barriers by providing unique wrap-around financial support for single mothers determined to advance out of poverty and lead a life of economic independence. Held at The Victor at Parq Vancouver on Friday May 10th, presented by valued sponsor Capital Direct and emceed by Sophie Lui, with special guest Bill Good, the event’s proceeds will directly support single mothers who are ready to go back to school or register for job training.
“We would like to thank each one of our incredible sponsors and everyone who attended and celebrated women and motherhood with us,” says Andrea Thomas Hill, Cause We Care’s Founder. “Ultimately we all want the same thing, to ensure our children’s happiness and wellbeing above all else, and because of the generosity of our sponsors and guests we are able to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of single mothers in Vancouver.”
Guests at the luncheon were moved to hear first-hand how one beneficiary was directly impacted by such financial support and, as a single mother of two, one of whom has special needs, was able to complete her studies at the University of British Columbia and achieve her goal of becoming a teacher. Going forward, with guidance and the assistance of employment navigators, front-line organizations will help more single mothers apply for funds that will cover costs including items such as educational supplies and computer equipment, dental and health, childcare and even clothing and essential supplies during the term of their education or training.
Alongside presenting sponsor Capital Direct, Cause We Care is deeply grateful to additional event sponsors and partners: The Victor at Parq Vancouver, LivingSpace Interiors, Haywood Securities, RYU Apparel, Bacci’s, Blue Ruby Jewellery, Aritzia, The PaperQueen, Filia Esthetics, C4 Eyewear, Philocaly, Thomas Hobbs, The Uncommon Cake, Music by Adrienne, Clark’s Audio Visual, and Juice Group.
