Cathay Pacific Reopens Lounge at Vancouver International Airport
VANCOUVER, B.C. (June 12th, 2023) – Cathay Pacific and Vancouver International Airport Authority are pleased to announce the reopening of the Cathay Pacific Lounge on June 16, 2023 for flight CX865 on June 17, 2023, as Hong Kong’s home airline continues to add more flights to its global schedule.
Located in the International Terminal of Vancouver International Airport (YVR), between departure gates D70 and D71, the lounge originally opened in May 2016. The lounge measures 510 square metres, with a seating capacity of 108 people offering a supremely comfortable exclusive environment of understated luxury in which passengers can relax before their flight out of Vancouver.
Designed by Studioilse, the London-based design firm led by Ilse Crawford, the lounge features warm, natural materials like wood and stone, alongside softened acoustics and lighting, to create an environment that helps passengers feel relaxed by engaging the senses and focusing on wellbeing as a core principle.
Cathay Pacific SVP, Americas Chris Van den Hooven said: “Cathay Pacific is delighted to welcome guests back to our lounge at Vancouver International Airport. Cathay Pacific’s lounges are an integral part of our customer experience. The lounge in Vancouver is designed to reflect the Cathay Pacific brand experience and to offer passengers both relaxation and enjoyment, whether they are en route to Hong Kong or travelling beyond to one of Cathay Pacific’s destinations throughout Asia.”
Vancouver International Airport Authority Vice President, Operations & Chief Operations Officer Andy Margolis said: “We are thrilled that Cathay Pacific is reopening its lounge at YVR. The lounge enriches the experience of Cathay Pacific passengers travelling through our airport, providing world-class amenities and culinary options all within a well-appointed space that aligns with YVR’s overall sense of place and commitment to showcasing the best of our community. I would like to thank Cathay Pacific for its continued partnership and for bringing its lounge back to service.”
Cherry wood walls and limestone flooring are framed with details such as glazed screens and green ceramic tiles in The Noodle Bar, bronze and brass highlights in the main entrance and bar area. Specially sourced artwork reflects the local culture of B.C., giving the feel of a comfortable domestic space rather than a standard airline lounge.
Natural sunlight filters through the windows; bespoke chairs and side tables with inbuilt lamps and sockets are placed by the glass so passengers can enjoy views of the airport runway and mountains beyond. Travellers can take advantage of complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the lounge.
Dining is a focal part of the Cathay Pacific lounge experience and the airline’s Vancouver lounge features the signature Noodle Bar, which offers a selection of dishes including wonton noodle soup, dan dan noodle soup and authentic Hong Kong-style fish ball noodle soup. Another dining highlight is The Pantry, where passengers can enjoy cold cuts, a selection of cheeses, salads, international hot food, fruits, desserts, choice of wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages.
The lounge is open to First and Business Class passengers travelling on Cathay Pacific, Cathay members with Silver Card status or above, and members of all tiers who earn lounge passes and/or their friends and family, including oneworld members with Sapphire status or above and First and Business Class passengers travelling on oneworld partners.
The Cathay Pacific Lounge opens four hours prior to scheduled flight departure.
