Drink of the Week – Wine Flights at Salt Tasting Room

We had a great evening yesterday at Gastown’s hidden gem, Salt Tasting Room, savouring an impressive selection of wines and sherries paired exquisitely with fine local and imported cheese and charcuterie. A frequently changing menu makes it nearly impossible to have the same Salt experience twice. The menu is simple, guests are invited to assemble a tasting plate from their authentic chalkboard selection of 10 cheeses, 10 meats and 10 condiments.

If you don’t know much about cheese or meat, simply select your favourite wines and the talented Salt team will happily pair the tasting plate for you. A great option that we tried is ordering ‘wine flights’ (2oz pours of 3 different wines). This week’s Drink of the Week is inspired by our yummy tasting; we tried a wine flight featuring Ormarine Picpoul de Pinet 2010 (Languedoc, France), Six Hats Shiraz 2010  (Western Cape, South Africa) and a glass of Lustau Deluxe Cream ‘Capataz Andres’ sherry (Jerez, Spain).

Walking distance from bustling downtown Vancouver, right in the heart of Gastown’s historic Blood Alley, Salt makes for the perfect date spot or place to unwind after work with friends. Their private Salt Cellar also offers a dynamic meeting place for larger groups. For more info visit www.salttastingroom.com. We love Salt!
