On Monday April 22nd, 700+ of Vancouver’s hospitality industry, media and foodies alike flocked to the Sheraton Wall Centre for the 24th Annual Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards. The city’s most important food event of the year, we were thrilled to attend and be a part of the ultimate foodie extravaganza. Top chefs prepared light bites as guests mingled over hand-crafted cocktails and vibrant BC wines.

For this week’s Drink of the Week we decided to highlight the delicious Tinhorn Creek Vineyards wines which we sampled at the awards – the signature Oldfield Series 2Bench White and Rosé, seen pictured.

The 2011 Oldfield Series 2Bench White is a blend of 5 different varietals – 52% Chardonnay, 31% Sauvignon Blanc, 11% Viognier, 3% Semillon, 3% Muscat. Winemaker Sandra Oldfield designed this wine specifically to compliment West Coast food. Dry and crisp with no oak aging, and lovely notes of pears, apricots, lychee, citrus, honey, spice and caramel.

The 2011 Oldfield Series 2Bench Rosé is 100% Cabernet Franc with a very pleasing pale orange/pink colour and a fresh fruity nose. Notes of cherry fruit, dried herbs and a kiss of sweet fruit.

A huge congratulations to Hawksworth Restaurant as the team received three gold awards: Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, and Best Upscale Restaurant. We also proudly congratulate Miradoro Restaurant at Tinhorn Creek Vineyards for winning gold for Best Winery / Vineyard Dining, and to Aura Restaurant of Nita Lake Lodge, runner up for Best Whistler!
