Media Advisory: 7th Annual Black Box Culinary Competition for Young Chefs Delivers $10,000, Mentorship, Community and Career Advancement Opportunities

What: After heated regional competitions, held at top culinary institutions in Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto, eight young chefs have been selected to compete at the national finals of the Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarship.

The finalists will compete in a ‘Black Box’ cook off in front of some of Canada’s most esteemed chefs and culinary professionals to win a $10,000 prize, an international cooking stage, a range of sponsor gifts and the ultimate bragging rights to being named Canada’s most talented young chef.

Competition begins at 9:00am PDT with address by founder Chef David Hawksworth. Award standings are announced at the evening reception at Hawksworth Restaurant at 6:00pm PDT. The National Finals return to Vancouver after being held in Toronto in 2017 and 2018.
