Drink of the Week – ‘Clough Club Cocktail’ from The Clough Club

The Donnelly Group recently opened the doors to it’s latest cocktail tavern, The Clough Club, located at 212 Abbott Street. This new hotspot is named after John Clough, a 19th century booze-addled lamplighter and jailer of Gastown. The Clough Club melds classic style with tasteful modernity. Acclaimed designer Craig Stanghetta (Bao Bei, Meat and Bread) used as much of the 110-year old building’s bones as possible, commissioning installations and creating decor that offset the old-fashioned feel of the original space.

The Clough Club’s craft cocktail list is dark-spirit forward, with a focus on house made barrel-aged recipes. Carefully selected beer and BC wines round out the menu, while the food is lovingly rendered South American tapas, using locally sourced and organic ingredients. This week’s Drink of the Week is the signature Clough Club Cocktail. It is a delicious mix of bourbon, amaro, agave syrup, Peychaud’s bitters, fresh lemon juice and egg white for froth.
