Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival

As the annual Cherry Blossom Festival quickly approaches this Thursday April 5th, the city’s best Japanese chefs prepare for the event kick-off with a group effort ‘limited edition’ bento box featuring tasty ingredients like smoked salmon, smoked sablefish, siitake and tuna tataki, temari zushi, ebi crisp, Fraser Valley pork kakuni, braised stuffed chicken, scallop and kiwi fruit carpaccio and sakura oshi.

Top chefs from Tojo’s, Miku, Zen Sushi, Shuraku, Zest and more will be there to give sushi-making demos as well as their Bento Boxes. The boxes must be pre-ordered through www.vcbf.ca and include a free appetizer at any of the participating restaurant with your ‘Bento Passport’.

The festival kicks of inside the Burrard Skytrain Station and goes for a month. Mia Stainsby reports in The Vancouver Sun.
