Drink of the Week – LaStella Wines from the Salt Cellar Series
Every two to three months the Salt Tasting Room opens up their cellar for guests to sample a tasting menu built around wines from a select winery. Last Tuesday we joined Salt for the popular series, this time featuring wines from famed LaStella Winery, situated at Osoyoos Lake in the South Okanagan Valley of BC. At 7pm friends gathered around the 30-foot communal table, greeted by Salt’s General Manager Kyle Gartlan-Close and General Manager of LaStella (and sister winery Le Vieux Pin), Rasoul Salehi.
For this week’s Drink of the Week we decided to highlight the 6 amazing wines we tried: Vivace pinot grigio (paired with prosciutto di parma and piparras peppers), Leggiero un-oaked chardonnay (with avonlea cheddar and mostarda), Stellina Rosato (with toma and cipollini onions), Fortissimo 2010 (with Holstein and dried cherries – our favourite!), Fortissimo 2009 (with smoked beef and fig and nut bread), and the LaStella Moscato (with La Roche Noir and Similkameen honey). Simply delicious!
We can’t express enough how fabulous this event series is – such great value and the perfect opportunity to meet new people in a relaxing environment. Explore new wines and rest assured that Salt will have them paired perfectly. Tickets are $40 plus tax and gratuity, space is limited. Don’t miss these tasty upcoming events:
