Drink of the Week – Morimoto Waikiki

On a recent trip to Waikiki we just couldn’t resist checking out the acclaimed Morimoto at The Modern Honolulu hotel. Chef Masaharu Moriomoto, known to many as the star of Iron Chef and Iron Chef America, opened Morimoto Waikiki in the fall of 2010 and currently owns and operates restaurants worldwide.

Morimoto Waikiki is enhanced with island-grown ingredients and the best seafood from Hawaii and Japanese waters. We tried a selection of his signature dishes; the Crispy Rock Shrimp Tempura, Foie Gras Chawan Mushi, Soft Shell Crab Roll and Whitefish Carpaccio were our favourites!

As you enter the space you immediately feel welcomed and relaxed. A simplistic Japanese design with organic elements creates a soothing ambience; think live moss, larger-than-life orchids, and structural pieces of coral.

At the bar, guests are offered a menu of award-winning beers and sake. Something unique are their sake flights and exotic hand-crafted cocktails made with coconut, ginger, sake, guava, and pineapple. Take a seat on the expansive patio overlooking the beautiful Ala Wai yacht harbor. Deep sofas and fire pits invite for a fun night for sipping & dining in a setting so stylish.

This week’s Drink of the Week are two tasty cocktails we tried, pictured below.
