OPUS Vancouver reveals chic new design for iconic cocktail lounge
Yaletown’s OPUS Hotel, an iconic city hotspot well known for its creativity, design and service excellence, is pleased to present the new OPUS Bar: an effortlessly stylish cocktail destination re-imagined by acclaimed Vancouver interior designer Robert Bailey in collaboration with design consultant Craig Stanghetta.
“The new OPUS Bar is a fantastic addition in the heart of the hotel, which will add an exciting element to the OPUS Hotel experience for our guests,” says OPUS Hotel’s General Manager Nicholas Gandossi. “We hope that the rich and inviting space will become a central hub for travellers and locals alike.”
Echoing the recent colourful revamp of OPUS Hotel’s rooms, the new bar is a space full of personality and warmth that features whimsical touches such as neon signs urging guests to ‘Just Hold Me’ and a focal point zebra-striped marble bar.
Hip coffee hang out by day, complete with cozy fireplace and serpentine style royal blue banquettes, OPUS Bar transforms into a sexy and sophisticated space at night. Thursdays through Saturdays DJs spin classic old-school hip-hop and 90s beats to a laid-back crowd at the intimate bar.
Timeless and reinvented cocktails ($13-16), created by Bar Manager Barry Jackson, are offered alongside an impressive wine list and a select beer program. Guests of OPUS Bar will enjoy cocktails complemented by bar bites from Chef Lucais Syme of the hotel’s award winning restaurant La Pentola. Creamy burrata, zesty shrimp tartines, grilled cheese sandwiches and charcuterie or cheese boards ($8-32) make for perfect night-time nibbles. All of this while industry host and General Manager Leo Wondergem expertly conducts service in the room.
The Opus 97, the bar’s signature cocktail, is a new twist on a drink from the original OPUS Bar (named after the hotel’s room count). Featuring vodka, kiwi syrup, mint and ginger liqueur; the cocktail is a fresh take on an old favourite that reflects the approachable vibe of the newly imagined space.
Gin lovers will enjoy the Mumbai with Bombay, cardamom, elderflower liqueur, prosecco and peach bitters. While fans of dark spirits can get their fix with The Forester, featuring Basil Hayden bourbon, Cherry Heering, chocolate bitters, orange rind, nutmeg and a Laphroaig wash.
OPUS Bar is open 9am until late (2am/3am) with DJs playing Thursday through Saturday nights. For more information please call 604-642-6787 or visit http://vancouver.opushotel.com.
