Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarship postponed

New competition dates to be selected in an effort to protect the health of our communities against COVID-19

In joining Canada’s fight against the spread of COVID-19 and the closure of educational institutions and restaurants across the country, the Hawksworth Young Chef Scholarship competition is postponed until further notice.

The situation is being monitored daily and the Scholarship will announce new competition dates as soon as it is safe to do so. All of the young chefs who have been selected to compete in the 2020 Regional Heat Competitions will still have the opportunity once the program resumes.

“These next few weeks will be challenging for us all as we face uncertainty and isolation. I urge you to support each other through digital platforms, and remain connected and creative during this time,” says Scholarship founder Chef David Hawksworth. “Please know that postponing the competition has been an extremely difficult decision to make, however, our number one priority has to be to protect everyone’s health and to protect our communities in stopping the spread of the COVID-19 virus.”

The Scholarship is grateful to its sponsors, culinary and venue partners and all those who applied for the 2020 competition, and looks forward to continuing its work recognizing and inspiring young Canadian chefs from coast to coast.
