Charity luncheon raises $65,000 for YWCA Cause We Care House residents’ amenities and programs
This week’s sold-out Cause We Care Mother’s Day Lunch raised an impressive $65,000 for the YWCA Cause We Care House, its soon-to-be residents, and other single, mother-led families who live in the surrounding area.
Proceeds from this event, presented by Tiffany & Co. and held at Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar, go toward ‘Welcome Kits’ for the YWCA Cause We Care House tenants, as well as funding other amenities and initiatives. The kits will provide essentials for day-to-day living and amenities include furnishing the house’s common areas, which will include a kitchen, living room and an outdoor living space. Families are scheduled to move in this fall. The house will have 3,000 sq.ft of common space that will offer programs and resources to residents and a number of families in need in the community.
“Tiffany & Co. has been a part of Vancouver for almost a decade and giving back to the community in a city that has been so good to us is of utmost importance,” says Wendy Eagan, Group Vice President, Canada from presenting sponsor Tiffany & Co. “We are honoured to be part of such a successful fundraising effort that will make a difference to so many women’s lives.”
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to our sponsors and everyone who attended,” says Andrea Hill, founder of Cause We Care. “Our goal for the luncheon was not only to celebrate our own mothers but also to fundraise in honour of the brave women who are moving to the YWCA Cause We Care House to give themselves and their children a fresh, safe start. We want to be a part of their journey to a better life.”
Cause We Care would like to extend a big thank you to the event’s valuable supporters and sponsors – Tiffany & Co., Hotel Empress, Kim Craig & Monique Badun from Sotheby’s Realty, RYU, Living Space, Bacci’s, Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar, Quince Fine Florals, Blue Ruby and C4 Eyewear.
